What is Outbound?

Every year, Key Performance Indicator (KPI) for numbers of outbound students are determined by the University’ Management to be fulfilled by each faculties and institutes.  A Student Mobility Committee lead by Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and International) are formed to look into policies of student mobility.

Every year, an amount of fund are allocated by UPM to facilitate cross-border student mobility programme. In addition, funding for these activities are obtained through a bidding process from sponsors such as ASEAN International Mobility Students (AIMS) programme, Malaysia–Thailand Postgraduate Seminar Programme and Erasmus Mundus Programme.

 

Category of mobility programme

  1. Short-term: 14 -30 days
  2. Long term: 1 - 2 semesters

* Students are reminded that financial assistance will only be provided to programme that meet the criteria of the above categories only. For programme that are less than 14 days will not get any financial assistance.

 

Who can join mobility programme?

The Student Mobility Committee headed by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and International) has set criteria for UPM students who are interested in participating in mobility programme.

  • Local students of bachelor programme (undergraduate) who are in semester two (2) to semester seven (7) only.
  • Local and international students of postgraduates (master and PhD) who are in semester two (2) to one (1) semester before graduation.
  • Good academic performance (CGPA 3.0 and above).
  • Active in co-curriculum.
  • Be excited to face new challenges.
  • Willing to be a UPM ambassador abroad. Ready to share the experience of pursuing a mobile program after returning to UPM.

In addition to our application form, we also require additional relevant documents, which include:

  • A nomination letter from respective faculty.
  • One certified true copy of academic transcript by the respective faculty (each semester).
  • One certified true copies of passport.
  • Account statement/account passbook – account number.
  • Invitation letter/letter of acceptance from host university.
  • Itinerary details of programme.

Kindly submit all forms and documents to the respective faculty. Faculty will send the application form to us.

Financial Aid

 

The application will be through a meeting of the Student Mobility Committee chaired by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International) to be held at the 3rd * week of each month.

Students are recommended to submit applications at least two (2) months prior to undergoing a mobility program.

                                      * The meeting schedule may vary according to current requirements. Students are advised to refer with mobility section.

** Payment rates specified in this schedule may vary according to current and above requirements of the UPM Student Mobility Committee.
