Academician as one of the recipient of the Anugerah Citra Madani by TalentCorp

PENANG, March 2023 – Talent Corporation Malaysia (TalentCorp) launched Women's Empowerment Month (WEM) 2023 with the theme, "Be Strong, Be Tenacious, Be Kind" in conjunction with International Women's Day.

 

The WEM ceremony was launched by YAB Tuan Chow Kon Yeow, Chief Minister of Penang calling on all stakeholders to address stereotypical views of gender-based roles and traditional responsibilities towards women. "In this regard, the practice of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion can increase opportunities for women to continue working while also encouraging men to equally shoulder household and family responsibilities," he said.

 

WEM 2023 is the second time it has been implemented after being introduced in 2022, in line with the celebration of International Women's Day on March 8 every year. It aims to highlight various issues related to gender equality, diversity, equity and inclusivity (DEI) and ensure that through this, the female workforce in Malaysia continues to be strengthened.

The inaugural Anugerah Citra Madani which was held for the first time also presented to 14 recipients including Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Nurfadhlina Mohd Sharef from the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). Dr. Fadhlina is an academician and technologist in Artificial Intelligence (AI) from Universiti Putra Malaysia. She has led various projects related to AI and data science, and active in mentoring other women for digital competency empowerment. Among her contribution to develop larger community of Women in STEM especially in AI is the Back to Work Better, a project delivered through APEC Science Leadership Program 2021, sponsored by the National Science Technology and Development Agency, Thailand. She has also published articles and talked at various platforms on women empowerment in digital era. This award is expected to be a catalyst for all the efforts that have been implemented to be more competitive, in addition to being a source of inspiration for the Malaysian community.
