SERDANG, October 2023 – The Dean's Council Ping Pong Tournament, held for the first time, involved matches between faculties at the Sports Academic Hall, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) from 16 October 2023 to 20 October 2023.

The tournament organized by the Sports and Social Club of the Faculty of Engineering (KSSFK), UPM in conjunction with the Faculty of Educational Studies (FPP) successfully attracted the participation of 110 participants from all the faculties that competed in the tournament namely the Faculty of Engineering (FK), the Faculty of Educational Studies (FPP), the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FPSK), Faculty of Agriculture (FP), Faculty of Ecology and Humanities (FEM), Faculty of Science (FS), Faculty of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences (FBSB), Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FPV), Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (FSKTM) and the Faculty of Design and Architecture (FRSB).

The tournament was held to promote healthy lifestyle practices and create sportsmanship among staff. This year's tournament was between teams and followed the General Rules used by the UPM Staff Sports Tournament.

The FSKTM Ping Pong Team Manager, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Azrul Hazri Jantan sent a team of table tennis players to compete in each match category. The calculation of match points was by group and the order of matches in this tournament was men's single, women's single, men's double (veteran), men's double and mixed double. The players from FSKTM were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Iskandar Ishak, Dr. Noris Norowi, Dr. Khairul Azhar Kasmiran, Puan Raja Azlina Raja Mahmood, Ms Norhidayati Mohd Radzi, Mr Akmal Hafiz Ngah (captain), Mr Md Nor Azman Osman, Mr Mohd Nasir Ahmad, Mr Mohamad Hafiz Abd Rahim and Mr Muhammad Haris Harun.

After drawing votes to determine groups, FSKTM became the champion of group C after defeating FEM 4-1 and then managed to qualify for the semi-finals. FSKTM's desire to reach the final was not achieved when they lost to FPSK with a score of 1-3.

In the final, the heavily favoured ping pong team from FK successfully defeated FPSK and was crowned as the champion of the 2023 Dean's Council Ping Pong Tournament. The UPM Registrar, YBrs Mr Muhazam Mansor, presented the prizes to the players.
