SERDANG, October 2023 - The Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (FSKTM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) is organizing the 2023 Faculty Open Day Program in conjunction with the Silver Jubilee celebration which was held for five days from October 22, 2023 until October 26, 2023. Various interesting events are organized by FSKTM to attract visitors to the faculty by targeting visits and attendance of students in secondary schools, colleges and polytechnics.

The organization of the FSKTM Open Day aims to expand students' knowledge about the latest developments in the field of computer science and information technology. They will be given access to the latest information, trends, and relevant innovations in the industry. The event, which was held for the first time, also received sponsorship from 10 industrial companies including Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd, Global Intelligence Sdn Bhd, Deloitte Consultation SEA, Huawei Technologies Sdn. Bhd., U Empower Sdn Bhd, ORIENPLEX, CSS Palm Oil Engineering, The Military Religious Corps (KAGAT), Maggie Malaysia and also Cybernetics International College Of Technology.

FSKTM carried out a total of 26 events with the opening event being completed by YBhg Prof. Dr. Ismi Arif Ismail on 23 October 2023 at Dewan Abdul Azim, FSKTM. The first day started with leisure activities such as Zumba and Briswalk organized by FSKTM in collaboration with the UPM Computer Science Student Association (ComSSa). The GSC-CSIT Club and the Graduate Studies Unit organized a Colloquium for postgraduate students on Effective Writing in the research proposal presented by YBhg. Datin Prof. Dr. Hamidah Ibrahim at Dewan Abdul Azim. Throughout the organization of the FSKTM Open Day, undergraduates performed and showed their talent in the e-SPORTS competition.

On the second and third day, students can explore and get to know the career opportunities offered by the industry in preparation for stepping into the world of work after finishing the study campus at FSKTM. On the fourth and fifth day, FSKTM organized sharing and experience sessions by UPM ALUMNI. In addition, the research studies of researchers at FSKTM are exhibited at iSPACE Block C, FSKTM UPM. Industry players from various agencies who were invited did not miss out on giving talks on current technology and expertise in the field of AI, IoT and computer science.

The FSKTM Open Day was celebrated with 500 visitors consisting of students, teachers, industry representatives and UPM alumni. Various forms of sales through food trucks and livestock and agricultural products from Putra Mart UPM are sold in the parking area of FSKTM. The sale of durian fruit was well received by durian enthusiasts until it was sold out within an hour.

The closing event is awaited by visitors and participants in the FSKTM Open Day with the presentation of prizes completed by the Dean of FSKTM, Associate Prof. Dr. Razali Yaakob.
