SERDANG, 22 November – FSKTM has won the Best Innovation Idea Prize during the Service Innovation and Quality Day (HKIP) UPM 2019 organised recently by the Centre for Quality Assurance. The Best Innovation Idea Prize is to appreciate and recognise UPM staff that can contribute innovation ideas / project titles that are the best, are practical and has potential to be a Service Innovation or Innovative and Creative Group (KIK) project at PTJ and UPM levels, and to encourage the development of a thinking culture that is creative and innovative within UPM staff as a catalyst for the production of UPM service innovation products that have high impact.
Dr. Noris Mohd Norowi was the faculty’s representative who had competed with the idea titled ‘PUTRAWelcome’ – an app that can be used to simplify registration and help the transition of new students to UPM specifically and the areas in Serdang generally. The application is a platform that provides quick access to students that want information regarding life on campus and as a reference before they register and start studying.
The presentation in front of juries was held on 18 October 2019 at Auditorium 1, TNCPI Building, UPM, whereas the final results were announced during the UPM Innovation and Quality Day 2019 celebration on 22 November 2019 at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Arts and Cultural Centre (PKKSSAAS), UPM. The prize of a check for RM300.00 and certificate was presented by Datin Paduka Dato 'Aini Ideris, UPM Vice Chancellor.
As an ICT leader, FSKTM supports the notion that PUTRAWelcome not only helps the public, it makes UPM stand out as an advanced and progressive university with the latest technology. A basic prototype of PUTRAWelcome is currently being developed and it is hoped that this idea provides benefits to all if it can be realised.
