SERDANG - Lecturer Prof. Dr. Mohamed Othman from the Department of Communication Technology and Network, Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), has been awarded Honorary Professor by South Kazakhstan Pedagogical University, Shymkent, Kazakhstan, in conjunction with the university’s Open Day and 25th Anniversary in March this year.
He was conferred a recognition certificate, along with another professor from Barcelona University in Spain.
A professor from Russia, in congratulating both recipients, said, “from West, University Barcelona, Spain to the East, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Malaysia through Central Asia; congratulation to both of you for the success.”
The certificate of recognition was presented by South Kazakhstan Pedagogical University President, Prof. Dr. Yunusov Madiyar Bahtiyarovich, at a function held at the university.
The event was also graced by Deputy Governor of Shymkent Province, Sadybekov Ulasbek and the university’s rector, Prof Dr Zharkinbebov Murat Asanovich and about 200 invited guests who came from various countries, academic staff and students of the university.
Prior to that, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Othman was invited to present a paper at a seminar and conduct a workshop for the university’s academic staff and undergraduates. He also conducted seminars and workshops at the L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University and South Kazakhstan State University, Kazakhstan.
Saying 10 professors were invited to conduct seminars and workshops, he said he was grateful to have been chosen to receive the Honorary Professorship recognition certificate.
"I am grateful and very touched to have received this recognition. This is also a recognition by a foreign university for my research, and a recognition for UPM, too. This will inspire me to continue trying to bring the good image of UPM at the international level,” he said. – UPM
