SERDANG, AUGUST - The 2^nd Applied Informatics International Conference (AiIC2020) was successfully held on the 12^th- 13^th August 2020 at the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, UPM. The conference was initially planned as physical, F2F conferencing. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic that has severely impacted most parts of the world economically, the conference had to change to virtual, web conferencing mode, via Google Meet. The Applied Informatics International Conferences are organized to escalate research and innovations in Applied Informatics to an internationally recognized level by promoting collaborations between researchers from academia and industries. AiIC2020 is a venue for researchers in the related areas to gather, share and present their current research. The theme of AiIC2020 is Empowering Applied Informatics Research for Contemporary Technological Trends.

Despite of many obstacles, we managed to receive almost 80 papers including 10 international submissions. The reviewing process which involved reviewers from all over the world, had eventually accepted 54 papers altogether for oral presentation and SCOPUS journal publication. The SCOPUS journals selected to publish the papers this year are Solid State Technology and Journal of Advanced Research in Dynamical and Control Systems.

AiIC2020 was officially opened by Professor Dr. Rusli Abdullah, the Dean of Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, UPM. There are two keynote speakers this year, both are renowned researchers in their respective areas. They are Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohamad Hanif Md Saad, the Deputy Director for Institute of IR4.0 UKM, and Professor Dr. Rose Alinda Alias, the Head of the Information and Service Systems Innovation (ISSI) Research Group at the UTM Azman Hashim International Business School (AHIBS), as well as Senior IT Associate Fellow at UTM Center for Information and Communications Technology (CICT). She is also the Founding President of the Persatuan Sistem Maklumat Malaysia (MyAIS) and President of Malaysia Chapter for the Association for Information Systems (AIS).
