The Sakura Science Exchange Programe

 

 

 

Yamaguchi, March 2023 - The JST Sakura Exchange Program in Science 2023 is a program organized by Yamaguchi University, Japan aimed at promoting a global student network among selected international participants. This visit started on 5 to 11 March 2023 which was attended by all participants from the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, UPM. Throughout the program, students have the opportunity to participate in S&T (Artificial Intelligence) workshops as well as Remote Sensing applications for four days at Yamaguchi University.

 

Students also had the opportunity to visit the JAXA West Japan Satellite Communication Center and the Applied Satellite Remote Sensing Research Center. In addition, participants can learn the culture brought by Japanese society.

 

On the first day, participants were brought to meet the Director of the Information and Data Science Education Center, Yamaguchi University, Professor Dr. Shingo Yamaguchi at Yoshida's main campus, Yamaguchi. Here the participants were taken on a tour around the campus and visited the Information and Data Science Education Center while getting to know the researchers in the laboratory.

 

On the second day, participants were taken to visit Yamaguchi University's second campus in Tokiwa. The participants visited the Graduate School of Science and Technology for Innovation department led by Professor Shingo Yamaguchi and Assistant Professor Dr. Mohd Anuaruddin bin Ahmadon.

 

On the third and fourth day, research presentations by participants from the Graduate School of Science and Technology for Innovation, Yamaguchi University and FSKTM participants. Presenters are given the opportunity to present and receive comments, views and constructive criticism from all lecturers from both of institutions.

 

Presentation of study results Associate Professor Dr. Toshikazu Samura took fifth place. He presented on the detection of natural disasters and the role of Sentinal Asia and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). In the presentation, he shared data and natural disaster detection techniques to the participants.
