Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) won the eMOBIQ Challenge competition organized by Wilstech through the creation of the mobile application 'Fincare' by a group of third year Bachelor of Computer Science (Computer Systems) with Honours, Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (FSKTM).

Fincare is a mobile application that helps children in financial planning and allows their parents to monitor their expenses. The group of students was led by Tan Ze Han Dylan and they took home RM10,000 as a winning prize presented by the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperative, Datuk Ewon Benedick after successfully defeating 127 other groups of participants.

Tan Ze Han Dylan expressed his happiness when his hard work to build an application with nine other group members bore fruit. He said the idea to develop the mobile application came from a case study conducted with his group members and revealed that one in three Malaysians lack financial knowledge while more than 50 percent of Malaysians use e-wallets every day. "The biggest challenge is gathering suggestions on the best title and scope of applications to participate in this competition. "We need to gather information on the problems faced by society today as well as suitable solutions to solve the problems faced from various aspects.

"This success is not only from the ten of us, but also from the help of our guiding lecturer Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Nur Izura Udzir. Thank you Dr for always supporting us to achieve this victory," he said.

The eMOBIQ Challenge is the largest non-coding application development competition ever held in Malaysia and is open to all higher education institutions in Malaysia.
