UPM WINS FIRST PLACE IN TDC2019

KUALA LUMPUR, OCT 2019 – Putra-Tester from Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, University Putra Malaysia, had been announced as a winner in Test Design Competition (TDC) 2019 under University category and received a cash price of RM3, 000. Having to compete along 18 groups from various universities in Malaysia, this is the second victory for Putra-Tester; the first time was in TDC2017.

 

This year, Putra-Tester was represented by four undergraduate students, Nurfarahshazwani Nor Azmi, Nuralia Natasya Salehuddin, Nurul Asyiqin Mahmud, Syazani Hussin and a supervising lecturer, Dr. Salmi Baharom from Department of Software Engineering and Information System. The team was also supported by Dr. Mohd Hafeez Osman as their mentor. TDC 2019 is the 5th edition of the competition organized by Malaysia Software Testing Board (MSTB) which, for a given Test Object in a (hypothetical) Real-world Test Environment, requires participants to respond to a ‘hybrid’ challenge which requires participants to partly complete their assignment before and another assignment revealed during the “over-the-weekend test challenge”.

 

 

The competition started on March 1, 2019 and organized by Malaysia Software Testing Board (MTSB) to provides an effective platform for students and supervising lecturers to put their testing knowledge into practice and gain exposure to the industry problems. Putra-Tester from Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology UPM compete along 18 groups from various universities in Malaysia and has brought home a cash prize of RM 3000.

 

The judging criteria were based on several elements including effectiveness, efficiency and the creativity of test solutions submitted. The competition provides an effective platform for the students and the supervising lecturers to put their testing knowledge into practice, gain exposure to the industry problems and experience a work-like environment and gauge their competency levels against teams from other universities. The competition was held in Sunway University, on 20th – 21st July 2019. Prize-giving ceremony for the competition took place during the 2nd day of SOFTEC Asia 2019 on October 2nd, 2019.
