KUALA LUMPUR, October 2023 - Selangor R&D and Innovation Expo (SRIE) or SRIE Expo 2023 is a R&D and innovation competition open to researchers nationwide. The fourth series competition this year was held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center (KLCC)  from October 19th until 22nd, 2023.

Moringo innovation, a result of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) technology, won the Selangor R&D and Innovation Expo 2023 Champion in the Institute of Higher Education category, thus winning a cash prize of RM8,000.

The Moringo product, Moringa Chewable Tablets – Sweets and Yet Nutritious is an innovative product of researchers from the Department of Food Engineering, Faculty of Engineering UPM who is also the Deputy Director, Halal Product Research Institute (IPPH) UPM, Prof. Dr. Yus Aniza Yusof. This product is produced from Moringa oleifera leaf powder, also known as moringa leaf, lemunggai leaf, which is a 'superfood' that contains high nutrients.

In addition, UPM also successfully won 'The Best Research Innovation Award' and a gold medal at the 4th International Innovation, Technology & Research Exhibition and Conference (ITREXC) in conjunction with the organization of SRIE 2023. The innovation project titled 'Internet of Sports (Iosrocks) Sports Performance Analysis System ' is a project created by Prof. Dato' Dr. Shamala Subramaniam from the Department of Communication and Network Technology, Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, UPM.
