SERDANG, 6 NOV – A total of 34 students from Sekolah Menengah Sains Banting (SMSB), Selangor joined a study tours at the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (FSKTM). The purpose of this visit to FSKTM is to provide exposure and information in the field of study at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) as well as computer science career prospects to students.
The presence of SMSB students along with two associate teachers was welcomed by Prof. Dr. Zuriati Ahmad Zukarnain, Deputy Dean (Developmetn, Industry and Community Relations), Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, UPM.
Prof. Dr. Zuriati Ahmad Zukarnain said the students were an asset to the country and that the opportunity to gain knowledge up to the ivory tower should be used wisely in any field. She said even in the field of medicine doctors needed knowledge in information skills to obtain patient data from various technology sources. Students are emphasized on the importance of acquiring knowledge in the context of rapid growth information technology and learning in line with the challenges of the Industrial Revolution 4.0.
Students were also briefed and taken to lecture rooms, teaching and research laboratories around FSKTM by the lecturers. In addition, students will be taught through interactive games related to information technology and the introduction of figures involved in computer science.
